A Phantom of the Opera Themed Platinum Wedding

Phantom of the Opera wedding

Delaney and Darroll came to Trellis 925’s Urban Loft looking for a unique wedding venue that fit their aesthetic and could optimize their Phantom of the Opera theme they wanted for their wedding. Having already wanted several vendors on our Platinum vendors list, they decided to go with the Platinum Package for ease of planning, use of vendors they already loved,  and additional help with the design with the wedding planner.

The  Design

Delaney chose the Urban Loft for her venue because she loved the unique atmosphere that it provided as well as the exposed brick and quirky layout that fit her vision perfectly. She wanted a darker atmosphere to fit her and Darroll’s music loving, Phantom of the Opera, halloween themed wedding.

In order to make the venue more “them”, she removed as much white as possible from the venue by replacing the white drapes above the ceremony area with burgundy that she made herself. She also wanted a more inclusive feel from the moment her guests stepped on property, so she contracted with Premier Event Services to include black pipe and drape through the hallway and hung up twinkle lights to bring in the warmth from the venue into the entryway hallway.

Flowers by Lesley provided gorgeous centerpieces with tons of books, greenery and candles to make for a more dramatic reception. Delaney is not a fan of the rustic feel, so she covered all the wood tables with linen to make it more dramatic and with the trough tables during cocktail hour, she covered and filled the troughs with LED Candles, which really made it pop.

With her plated meals, she provided her guests with keys that had their name on it and the ribbon told the servers which meal the guests got. A perfect way to do an escort card in a non-traditional sense.

The Ceremony

Making sure that she thought of lighting, Delaney included a chandelier and tall candelabras from Flowers by Lesley into her ceremony design. The wedding ceremony was absolutely stunning with their gender-mixed bridal party all dressed in black and burgundy. Delaney’s bouquet included tons of burgundy and black flowers as well as a very special touch- a memory charm of her loved ones that had already passed on.

During the ceremony, Darroll surprised Delaney by singing her a song that he had written specifically for her. He made sure that he coordinated with the officiant, Karin with Heart and Souls, as well as their planner from Trellis, Claire, to make sure that he had everything that he needed to do this and time to perform. This special act brought tears to Delaney and all of their guests’ eyes.

The Party

Knowing that their guests were partiers, Delaney and Darroll brought in their own alcohol, served by the bartender included with their package. They also made sure that they provided late night snacks for the guests which included a delivery of pizza around 10pm as well as tons of individually wrapped salty and sweet snacks.

They brought their own DJ, a friend of Darroll’s: DJ Donnie Young. And he provided an awesome soundtrack for their wedding that kept the party going all night long.

The Send Off

At the end of the night, when it was time to say goodbye, Delaney and Darroll presented their guests with lightsabers to send them on their way along with Chocolate Covered Candy Apples from Kilwins and a masquerade mask to complete their phantom of the opera feel. Their photographer, Ashley Jane, took one last photo of the whole group and the couple leaving for the night in a traditional tunnel send off with all their friends and family holding lightsabers for them to go under.
